I too have reactivated my account for Pirates, after playing AoC it's a great game, and has some fun PvP, and pretty animations. It just feels very very shallow at the moment. I'm going to wait until they polish it up some more, and get rid of these pretty nasty bugs.

I have a lvl 38 Guardian on the RP-PvP server Cimmeria, where a lot of other OSS reside too.

There is way too much bugged content for a respectable release (the server issues are fine, and smooth), it's the client that's the biggest problem.

I won't even get into crafting, that system is just a mess! It is so broken right now, I don't even know why they wanted it in at release, they should of just released it later and have it actually work.

The first 1-20 levels are FANTASTIC, there are no bugs in there, the quests work, and it feels very immersive, and the storyline is awesome. As are the 20-35 quests, but now I'm at this point where I find very few quests to complete, and the ones I do find are for 40+ people. It's driving me insane trying to level up without having to mindlessly grind on NPC's.

Also, the PvP system isn't even activated / working , and it was working in the open beta. Pretty lame, if you ask me. The PVE cities are somehow PvP enabled and griefer guilds are destroying other peoples hard earned keeps just for the heck of it.

Where is the joy in having a smooth server launch when the client isn't stable?

My vote is try it out, and form your own opinions, but don't let the first 1-20 levels fool you.

Sure, but there must be a purpose in the game in addition to the possibility of jackin someone.

I'm still enjoying it atm.  Have a PoM up to 34 and will probably hit 40 in the next day or less.  Trying my hand at a guardian and I have to say I have never died so much in my life.

The player made cities will be fixed shortly so they can be upgradable. Just like in any new game, the devs always underestimate how fast people are gonna level then.  Then said people bitch about no content because they stayed up for 4 days straight lvling like crack monkeys.

Dae.

PS. Nothing is more fun then doing a aoe and pushing abunch of player characters off a cliff to there death.

I don't buy lame excuses like that.  When you release a game, I expect its major mechanics to be finished.

False promises have never panned out in the history of MMO's.

I'm no fanboi and AoC has issues.  But name 1 game that didn't have issues at release.  I know some are considered game breaking to most, but they will be fixed, and if they don't get fixed the game dies. Pretty simple imo.

Funniest bug I've heard so far is female assasins hit for less then male counter parts.  Same goes for there attack speed on weapons, lol.  Now thats some sexism.

The PVP is lame as can be.  There are no rewards, lvling, and absolutely no reason to pvp. PvP consists of camping res points.

I liked the PvE part of the game up to level 20.  Leveling to 20 was terrific with the voice overs and detailed story line.  However, WoW shall be the only PvE/carebear MMO I'll ever play; I'll never play a PvE MMO ever again.

The game simply just fell through the floor at 20: no more story line, no more voice overs, traveling is so phracking confusing and mind numbing. I dont even bother to read the missions I just follow the arrows to the spawn point.  The instanced towns and the "click here to warp here" crap really lets me down.  After playing in WoW and other MMO's that have created seamless worlds, it appears as if AoC took a step back.

There's no crafting until level 40 and the economy is as crappy as WoW if not worse.  After having played UO/Eve/PotBS and other MMO's with departments dedicated toward handling the economy, its been a serious let down.

The "feats" are nothing more than a WOW copy of the skill trees.  Whats even worse is that there are not a whole lot of skills/spells to choose from in the first place.  In addition, I only use 4 spells out of the say 20 I have as most of them are utterly and completely useless.

Bugs can be found every where and exploits have yet to be fixed. I have about 3 more weeks left but afterward I'm canceling.  What sucks is that I even knew this game was gonna blow but I bought it anyways just to give it a try.  Having participated in closed beta (as limited as it was), I already knew how AoC was going to pan out.  Now I just have this dirty feeling of having wasted $50 and hours of my life.

AoC experiment was a failure.  I'm back to full time PotBS with some CoD4 every now and then.

LOL,  The game fell through the floor at 20 because there was no more voice overs in quests.  Are you fuckin serious with that comment, wow.  I guess the 1st 20 lvls spoiled the shit out of you.  I don't know any other game that even came close to those first 20 lvls, then for it to go back to the way all other games are you have a bitter taste in your mouth. Being 36 I have yet to run into a lack of quests or story, and I tell you the story line is much more cohesive then WoW ever was.

Seemless world it is not, but traveling is relatively easy because its not a real seemless world.  Go to X guy and travel to Y lands.  I'm kinda bummed that it isn't seemless but what the hell, it's moves faster that way, I just view every wagoneer as a flightmaster just no world your flying over.

I really think you had a negative view from the start really because it isn't what you thought it was gonna be.  I really dropped my expectations of the game because everyone said it sucked and I am enjoying now it because I had a lower expectation.

actually I have found two schools of thought:

a) "This game is the best thing to happen since UO/Shadowbane/DoaC (pick one)! I love it and wow does it seem like the devs rocked the socks off people. This is so much better than WoW, and if you can't get that then you're playing the game wrong"

b) "There's a good deal of fun to be had in the first 20 levels, but the game feels unfinished, has numerous exploits and the client is bad, the game doesn't really feel like it offers anything new or any reason to play outside of gimmicks. I'll stick with game x because it's comfortable to me and I've already put a lot of time into it, and I'd just have to do the same in AoC, but there's not enough of a reason to."

after reading hundreds of articles on it on various blog and gamer sites those seem to be how people feel. Dan is a and Karl is b.

Myself, after playing it for literally 5-10 min on my friends comp I hated it. OMG THAT'S NOT ENOUGH TIME. yes it is, because I didn't give a shit about the mechanics, I just can't stand the artistic style in the game, but that's just me. I wanted mangle a goat or small child. (which is funny because almost everyone else seems to really like the "look" - or they just mean "omg thars boobs gusy!")

Also I'm paying for two, possibly soon three, WoW accounts so there's no way I can afford AoC >.<

I CANNOT GET INTO THIS GAME! I feel I wasted 50bux like Karl says.  I don't like the quest grinding to get off the damn island, and other than the pretty graphics, nothing has electrified me as of yet! I think it blows...I will try it a bit longer, then maybe I can sell it soon for a discounted price =)

I don't think its better then SB/UO/DAOC but it has its own uniqueness.  In a lot of ways it reminds me of guild wars which I wasn't a big fan of due to the instancing, but I have yet to find a zone that had no one in it to kill if I wanted to.

Is the game fucked atm, yeah. Are there issues with the client, yeah.  Is there lack of itemization after lvl 60, yeah.  Literally the game is buggy as fuck atm, but I dont' remember 1 mmo that wasn't buggy as fuck on release.  Hell, even major patches fucked mmo's up that were supposed to fix bugs, this one is no different.  Some people will like the game play, some will hate it.  I actually am digging it due to the mechanics of how you heal. It is a very interesting take on the healer class and quite fun.  That and ganking bitches with your bro's never gets boring to me, shoot first ask questions later basically.

"best since" means it's better than everything after x, but not as good as x.

I'm not saying that the game doesn't have potential, and I don't think karl was either, I think we're saying that at this moment AoC, compared to WoW/Pirates respectively, just doesn't offer enough to make us feel like our money is worthwhile.

But ya, the way healing works sounds pretty cool

Honestly I played Pirates and it wasn't much better.  You do get to kill people and there is penalties, but in the end I just couldn't get into it.  To each his own though.

If you've d/l the client tucker I'll let you log into my guy and run around healing crap, its pretty fun, just hit me up.

I was a DAoC fanatic myself, and after be obsessed and loving that game, this conan just honestly BLOWS (ya I said it again!).  It reminds me a bit of EQ when you have to camp for spawns, didn't have to do that with camelot other than for artifacts, etc.  I have not even played in a week, don't even miss it lol.  But I will admit I agree with you on the healing, I do like that aspect. So, I only like 2 things so far!

If you don't like quests you probably won't like this game until later, when they aren't any to do, lol.  But having to camp mobs is just part of any mmo that I can remember. Like I said, to each there own.

I hate the game...

Looks like WoW but more beautifull.

Got the same kids as in WoW.

Got no real pvp goals as in WoW.

btw I hate WoW too...

PS don't get me started on client issues, bugs, etc

I'll be back on PotBS as soon as I get some money (might be next week)

Yah I hate WoW too =)  conan does remind me a lot of wow (except not cartoonish), but also of guild wars and a couple of other mmorpg's I have tried.  I hope to goodness that Warhammer is basically DAoC 2 (as I think it is supposed to be), then once again there will be a rocking pvp game again!  And I am sure I will have complaints with it at release, but from the looks of it, my complaints will be minimum.

My PvP experience has actually been quite enjoyable in AoC.  This may be due to my class choice or to my friends classes, we seem to compliment each other.  For instance, last night a 44 ToS and a 44 Ranger attacked me( 42 PoM) and my buddy (45 PoM).

We proceed to burn down the ToS and then ranger.  Not done with us, they started attacking again (yes we were at the rez area in a town/district).  Killing them again, we proceed to camp them as they continually attacked us when they spawned. They called for help ( go figure) and a 54 soldier class showed up.  This is where shit got funny.  Not only did we kill the 54 4+ times, we took out the other 2 that started this noise 6+ times.

Nothing is better then beating some nub asses that jump you that thought they were bad asses.  Then standing there trash talking them as they repeatedly die is so classic.
